I bear a little book close to my heart where ever I go. I don’t understand it. It’s written in strange words, backward meanings hidden so plainly in clear sight I can almost trip on them. I cipher a line and it’s like lightning in my head—electric jumps of cold/warm water down my spine.
Aaah, I say. That’s right. That’s all I need to know.
I close the little book until next time. (but my bookmark keeps it open, you see.)

It says stop to go.
It says up is down.
It says doing is undoing,
and caring too much only hurts what you care for.

In pursuit of knowledge everyday something is added.
In reading my little book, everyday something is dropped.
Eventually, I’ll drop everything, (even the little book)—and I’ll reach non-action. What can I drop when I have nothing? When I have nothing, there’s no essence of anything and finally…
...here—I am.
A very short sentence.

Here's some quotes of mine today from driving around. To put it into perspective, Phoenix is like a giant writhing nexus of time and reality bending roads that stretch forever and over lap while running parallel. There are three streets that seem to run straight but encompass every other exit. Half the highways share names, never meet, have multiple names depending on what direction your headed, what temperature it is, whether the poles have reversed, if the stars are in the right alignment, etc. It's amazing.
My dad hands me a map and expects me to navigate this cosmos of uncertainties and non-linear tangents and experiments in quantum physics?

"The highways make two circles that form a shape."
"Keep going, you'll see a road, then.. something will happen."
"No, I don't know what a blinking blue light on a red triangle means either."
"I thought that was north!"
"Why do the block numbers get smaller on both sides of the interstate??"
"I think that was the exit."

It rained here in Phoenix after a 143 day dry spell with no moisture. It rained for a whole day non-stop, intense satisfying rain. Everything is green and alive now. Tonight I wandered away to a flooded park and waded to the middle of the black pool, wet consumed grass beneath my bare feet, and yelled obscenities at the stars and the moon laughed and we laughed all was well again. I love the stillness of a midnight place.

They make the best sounds, like a combination of a baby and a tiny whoopee cushin.
My cat is retarded and sauntered around the corner of the puppies box, which of course made Tiko (their mom) go beserk, so I grabbed the cat, and he clawed me pretty bad--any worse and we'd of had an extra trip to the hospital, i imagine ;) Little bugger nearly opened a vein in my wrist!
Anyway, soon as evening rolls around, my mom and I have some nice liquor to toast the puppies with. Makes me so angry *froths*

Anyway.
I've had the same dream the last two nights--Im driving and its afterdark, and its *Really* dark, like the power is out down the tight urban streets I'm usually driving down. Then my headlights go out and I cant see anything, and there's a couple other cars on the roads (it cant be too late at night) so I pull off at the top of this hill by houses/apartments that I dont recognize. I dont know where I am, but I know it cant be too far to my place if I decided to walk. There's no street signs. But there's a man cresting the hill, on the otherside of the street, coming toward my car. And thats when I wake up (both times by the alarm) but I recall feeling very flighty, like, my normal "holt fuck i dont want to talk to someone--flee!" mixed in with "strange homeless looking man at night--flee!" kind of thing.
But the dream is very tactile and vivid. Will i have it again tonight? I hope not. i hate reruns ;)

And, omgz Timber, your hiaku's are both hilarious and horrible. Until I can commit to the classes it just doesnt make much sense to spend the money on them. I get nothing out of it.
In the mean time..animating animating p0rn animating. I spent most of my savings on audio equipment, which I'm pretty jazzed about. Nothing, honestly, makes me feel better than getting rid of a huge chunk of money that I earned.
That puts me firmly in debt to this project of mine. Man I love it. Its coming together and I found I've been crazy modivated (tho, of course, its all the wrong kind of work I end up doing.)
I really hate waking up before dawn.
The Dog Cleverly Learned To Throw Its Voice

During the dog days of summer I heard the sidewalk bark. "Ruff," it went. "Ruff!" again, then I heard a guttural growl. I ran away to see what would happen. As expected, the sidewalk issued a snarl like a dog angry that its dinner dish was ripped from its mouth. I was late for an appointment so I hurried on. I returned an hour later with the hot dog seller from the next corner to serve as witness. We pressed our ears flat to the blistering pavement. I was able to discern a faint whimpering, but all the hot dog seller said he could hear was a sound like hot dogs sizzling on a grill, reminding him to go back to his stand. He was right to be concerned, for by the time he got back he found his cart overturned and a large, invisible dog casually eating burned hot dogs from the ground with relish.

-Ellen Lindquist

Music Meme thing I feel I was virtually bullied into doing.
01) Total Volume of Music on My computer:
9.2 Gig... a lot of files.
02) The Last CD I bought was:
Ooohboy. I think its still Smashing Pumpkins Adore, when I was a freshmen in highschool.

(its now my car stereo as we speak.)
03) Song Playing Right Now:
The Killers - Under the Gun
04)Five+ Songs I listen to a lot or mean a lot:
1. Sugar in my Bowel, Nina Simone. That wraps it up pretty tight.
2. Dang Me, by Roger Miller.. Probably because I would like to say,
"Woman--would you weep for me!" Always sticks me in a good mood *grin*
3. Buckets of Rain, by Bob Dylan. I hear it and its bittersweet--makes me smile, but at the end, I feel like I have to leave.
4) A Tisket A Tasket, by Ella Fitzgerlad. Ok. I dont know why I love this song so much, but I listen to it a lot.
5) Strawbs - Part of the Union. Well.. "You dont get me, I'm part of the union!"
6) Some Song, by Elliot Smith. Helped through highschool, among many.
7) Joni Mitchell - Case of You. People and relationships effect me so..
8) Janis Joplin - Down on Me. That's right. This whole round world is down on me.
9) John Prine has given me a ton of songs that mean something (grew up
listening to him) but, here's one that came up: "Yes, I guess they
ought to name a drink after you." My mom used to sing that to me
alllllll the time when i was a kid.

05)Which 5 people are you passing this baton to & why?
*grin* Well, I finally got accosted for the first time about my tattoo (it's a thin crecent moon with a circle in the center, facing left.) I was sitting in a deli, waiting for a sandwich, and I was wearing sandles/shorts, because, hey, it was 50(!) degrees today. Anyway, this older woman comes up to stand beside me, and glances down. She looked me over once, twice, then I turned to look at her. She said, "You don't look much like an Iraqi."
Then I said, "What the hell are you talking about?"
"So you're just Muslim," she decided.
Finally realizing it was my tattoo that led her to think this, I returned, sarcastically, "Yes, I am an Americanized sandwich terrorist. Give me your sandwich, and I wont frighten you anymore."
She walked away :( I was hoping I might get a free sandwich.
Anyhow, that was the highlight of my day. Wee :)

Hey. I havent posted in ages--mostly because everyday was just the same old deal. School, work, then really not much else. *Shrugs* I've been feeling sort of crappy for a lot reasons the last two months. I don't like to talk about it because I feel like I'm bitching, so I wont. I'm taking a quarter off from school, and getting as far away from Colorado as I can for four months. Last day of this quarter (Dec 17) I'm driving south with my dog and my cat bound for Phoenix to live with my mom a while. She needs the company, and I need the relocation.. Then California for FC and generally bumming around. Sometime in Feb/March, my mom has to fly to France/Belgium for business, so I'm going to tag along. It'll be a short trip, and will be just me on my own most the time.. But I cant think of a place further from Colorado, so I'm stoked :)

Also, I just watched Power Rangers this morning (its hard to find something on at 6am,) and realized how much fun it would be to work on that show. It's all dubbed over, so I think you could have a blast wearing those big plastic monster suits and screaming obsenities. Hehe, oh yeah, I woke up this morning to find my cat upsidedown by my head, purring and being stupid. I tried to sit up, and he grabbed me and kept flopping around. Then I looked down at the foot of the bed and noticed he had torn open a bag of catnip and had been sleeping in it. He was so happy. I couldnt get mad.

But now I'm off to school. I had a great idea of using 3ds Max and After Effects for a paper doll-like thing. Ok, its going to be a lot cool than it sounds.. assumming it works. Also I have to spend this evening working on my 2d animation. Stupid lipsyncing. Stupid I say! I dunno if anyone would find it interesting, but here's what I'm doing. That's the very first thing I did for the project a month ago, and it only took about 10 min, so it isnt spectacular ;)

Take it easy, y'all.
